To Reach the Worldwide Communities of People in which Our Military Personnel are Serving

A Chaplaincy to the men and women of the Armed Forces supports the constitutional guarantee to the "free exercise of religion." These selected clergy are "pastors" to Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Coast Guard, and Air Force personnel. Chaplains wear the same uniform, receive the same training, suffer the same hardships, or die on the same battlefields as other military people. VA Chaplains serve those who need medical care as Veterans.

To Pastor Our Far-Flung Chaplains and Support Them in their Ministry

Armed Forces chaplains conduct worship, provide pastoral counseling, lead religious and moral education, and support family services. They are active in crises intervention, community services and humanitarian programs in support of missionary and civic action projects wherever they are based.

To Touch the Lives of the Military Soldier's Family

The Council executes tasks required by both the Presbyterian Church and the Department of Defense to ensure proper management of military programs. Active-duty chaplains look to the Council for support, advocacy and encouragement not unlike that of a civilian minister to Presbytery. The Council also functions as a liaison to the military for member denominations.
